MQMCC condemns rights violation of MQM workers in prison
“Jail administration has shifted MQM workers in jail to barracks – Families are restricted from bringing cooked food from homes – Action should be taken against jail administration that helps terrorists to escape from jail for bribe”
Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s (MQM) Coordination Committee has condemned human rights violation in Karachi central jail. The jail administration has unlawfully shifted MQM workers from their wards to different barracks.
The Coordination committee saidthat a few days ago, jail administration facilitated two jet black terroriststo escape from jail. The terrorists belong to banned outfit. However, Sindhgovernment in connivance to jail administration has started targeting politicalprisoners in Karachi central jail. The MQM workers in prison are beingsubjected to vehement torture and are stripped in the garb of physicalexamination and shifted to barracks from their wards. The jail administrationhas also restricted their families for fetching cooked food from home.
The Coordination Committee demanded that rather than subjecting MQM workers in prison, the government should take action against jail administration that had facilitated the terrorists to escape from jail and for such facilitation; the jail administration minted millions in bribe. The prisoners should be provided all facilities as the Jail Manuel instead of violating their rights.
