The Founder and Leader of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) Mr Altaf Hussain has said that Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf has shown political wisdom by giving assurance to the mourners of the Quetta tragedy that their demands regarding removal of the Chief Minister of Balochistan and imposition of the governor’s rule in the province would be accepted.

Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) observed a peaceful Day of Mourning today in order to express solidarity with the victims of the people martyred in Quetta and Sawat in deadly blasts. Gatherings for fateha and recitations of the Holy Quran were held in the MQM offices throughout the country. Black flags were raised at the MQM offices and business centres, and the general public voluntarily closed their business activities in order to express solidarity with the mourners and the victims.

Deputy Convener of the Co-ordination Committee of the MQM telephoned the head of the Hazara Qaumi Jirga Haji Abdul Qayyum and expressed solidarity with the mourners protesting on the Alamdar Road in Quetta. He assured Haji Abdul Qayyum full support for the acceptance of the legitimate demands of the mourners. Dr Sattar offered heartfelt condolences on behalf of MQM leader Mr Altaf Hussain and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured.

The Founder and Leader of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) Mr Altaf Hussain has said that the Indian aggression on Pakistani borders was shameful. He said that democracy in the absence of local government institutions is nothing but an apology for democracy. He said that the government may remove Governor Sindh but the MQM would definitely take part in the long march being held in Islamabad on 14th January. He said, “We do not want the division of Sindh but the Urdu-speaking Sindhis should not be pushed to the wall.”
Mr Hussain expressed these views while talking to the Co-ordination Committee, Senators, MNAs, MPAs and office-bearer of different wings of the MQM in Lal Qila Ground in Azizabad.
