DELEGATION OF BUSINESSMEN MEETS DR FAROOQ SATTAR

A delegation of All Karachi Tajir Ittehad called upon the Deputy Convener of the Co-ordination Committee of the MQM and informed him about the growing activities of the terrorists belonging to the gang war. Member of the Co-ordination Committee Wasim Aftab and In-charge Karachi Tanzimi Committee Hammad Siddiqui were also present on the occasion. The delegation informed Dr Farooq Sattar about the demands of extortion money by the terrorists of the gang war and the wave of terror that has been created by threats, intimidation and torture.

The delegation said that the gang war elements are sending slips for huge extortion amount to the traders with threats of dire consequences if their demands are not met. They said that that the business community is passing through great anguish because of the mysterious silence from the people at the helm of affairs. They said that Karachi generates 70 per cent of revenue for the country and if appropriate protection is not given to the business community they will be forced to shift their investment out of the country. This they said would further weaken the falling economy of the country. The delegation asked Dr Farooq Sattar that the MQM should play its role in solving their problems and freeing them from the clutches of criminals and extortion mafia.

Dr Farooq Sattar sympathized with the delegation and expressed solidarity with the business community. He said that the MQM will give full support to the business community for the solution of their problems. Dr Farooq Sattar said that MQM has been raising its voice against the rising activities of extortion mafia. He demanded of President Asif Zardari, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gillani, Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik and Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah that Karachi should be cleansed of the terrorists and extortion mafia. He demanded that the terrorists and their protectors should be arrested and given exemplary punishment.
