DR. IMRAN FAROOQ is Shaheed-e-Inqilab (martyr of revolution). - Altaf Hussain

Mr. Altaf Hussain, Founder and Leader of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) has expressed his deep grief at the martyrdom of Dr. Imran Farooq and said Dr. Imran Farooq is the (Shaheed-e- Inqilab (martyr of revolution).

 

He said, “This news is shocking and unbelievable for me. This is the biggest blow of my life which I will never forget.” Mr. Altaf Hussain was struck with grief and he wept bitterly at the news. Members of MQM co-ordination committee tried to console Altaf Hussain.

 

Altaf Hussain said, “Imran Farooq was not only the convener of the MQM but also my associate from the earliest days. This is the most serious attack and the grief of Imran Farooq will always remain in my heart.”

 

He further said, “I have been deprived of a staunch, loyal and senior companion.”
 

Mr. Altaf Hussain has expressed his heartfelt condolences to the family of Dr. Imran Farooq and has prayed Almighty Allah to give courage and fortitude to his parents, widow, children brother and sisters to bear this irreparable loss. He said, “This is a great loss not only for them but for whole of the party and particularly for me.” He prayed Allah for accepting the martyrdom and for giving a lofty position to Dr. Imran Farooq in heaven.

 

Dr. Imran Farooq was one of the few key figures who laid the foundation of All Pakistan Mohajir Students Organization (APMSO). Dr. Imran Farooq became the first secretary general of the APMSO and thereafter, Mohajir Quami Movement (MQM). He spent more than seven years in hiding after the brutal operation against the party started in 19 June 1992. While remaining underground, Dr. Imran Farooq proved to an undercurrent for the party workers in the difficult circumstances.

 

Dr. Imran Farooq managed to reach London in 1999 and was made the Convener of the Co-ordination Committee of the party. He will always be remembered in the party for promoting discipline and restructuring party on strong ideological lines. His departure has created a vacuum which will never be fulfilled.

 

BRITISH DEPUTY HIGH COMMISSIONER CONDOLES THE
TRAGIC MARTYRDOM OF DR. IMRAN FAROOQ

The Deputy High Commissioner of Britain in Karachi Mr. Robert Gibson called upon Dr. Farooq Sattar, Deputy Convener of the MQM at his residence in PIB colony and offered his condolences at the tragic martyrdom of convener of the MQM Dr. Imran Farooq. Mrs. Nasrin Jalil, a member of MQM Coordination Committee was also present on the occasion.

 

Mr. Robert Gibson was accompanied by his political secretary Shaharyar Niazi. Mr. Gibson offered condolences on his behalf and government. He said that Dr. Imran Farooq was a moderate political leader and his murder was a big loss for MQM and Pakistan. He said that the British government will leave no stone unturned and will ensure that the murderer is brought to book.

 

Dr. Farooq Sattar apprised Mr. Gibson about the pivotal role of Dr. Imran Farooq in MQM and about his efforts in shaping the party. He thanked the British deputy high commissioner for his visit and his condolence.

A large number of people have thronged the international secretariat of MQM to condole tragic martyrdom of Dr. Imran Farooq, Convener of MQM Co-ordination Committee.

 

The Pakistani High Commissioner in Britain Wajid Shams-ul-Hassan also visited the MQM international secretariat  and met with members of the co-ordination committee. He expressed his condolences and said that Dr. Imran Farooq was a gentle soul and steadfast political worker. In his death the country has lost an honest and sincere political leader.

 

Meanwhile workers of MQM UK units hailing from different cities have also offered their condolences at the unfortunate martyrdom of Dr. Imran Farooq. People from different walks of life have called at the international secretariat to express their sympathies.
