ALTAF HUSSAIN

London. 1st September 2006

The MQM leader Mr. Altaf Hussain has strongly condemned the despicable act of the authorities by refusing to hand over the remains of Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti to his kith and kins. He said that the act of not allowing his relatives to participate in his last rites (Namaz-e-Janaza) and burial is contrary to the teachings of Islam and code of ethics. He pointed out that even the relatives of convicted criminal who is judicially executed are not deprived of his remains. All over Pakistan and rest of the world dead bodies are handed over to the relatives for burial.

Mr. Altaf Hussain stated that by not handing over the remains of Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti the state has committed even a more barbaric act than his assassination. He asked the authorities, what kind of image of Islam are we portraying to rest of the world by committing totally unislamic acts? Mr. Altaf Hussain demanded the government to allow the kith & kins of Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti to not only visit his grave but they should be allowed to perform full burial rites in accordance with their family and tribal customs.
