A SEVEN MEMBER MQM DELEGATION HEADED BY DR FAROOQ SATTAR MET WITH PRIME MINISTER SHAUKAT AZIZ AND HANDED OVER THE CHEQUE OF FIVE MILLION RUPEES

OTHER PARTIES MUST FOLLOW THE EXAMPLE SET BY THE MQM

A seven-member MQM delegation headed by MQM Deputy Convenor and Parliamentray Leader Dr Farooq Sattar called upon Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz at the Prime Minister House in Islamabad and handed over the cheque of five million rupees for the President Relief Fund. The delegation comprised of Inharge Coordination Committee Pakistan Anwar Alam, Joint Incharge Abdul Haseeb, Member Coordination Committee Shakeel Umer, Federal Ministers Babar Ghauri and Shamim Siddiqui and Provincial Minister Adil Siddiqui. During the meeting Dr Farooq Sattar termed the earthquake as a national tragedy and expressed that in these trying times we should think above party politics, get united, provide relief to the victims of the disaster. The MQM leaders also briefed the Prime Minister of the relief activities of the MQM whereby 100 relief camps have been set up where MQM workers and volunteers are collecting donations and relief goods. They also informed the Prime Minister that a team of doctors has also been despatched to the affected areas.

 

While thanking Mr Altaf Hussain for his generous donation of rupees five millions in the President Relief Fund and also on the relief activities of the MQM, Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz said that other political parties and organisations must also follow the example of the MQM and come forward to take part in providing relief to the affected. He also welcomed the arrival of MQM’s doctors team in Islamabad and assured that helicopters will be made available to send this team to the affected areas in Azad Kashmir.
