MQM TO HOLD A PUBLIC MEETING IN
MULTAN ON 23 DECEMBER: ALTAF HUSSAIN
LAHORE: 22ND NOVEMBER 2011
Founder and Leader of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) Mr Altaf
Hussain has announced that a historic public meeting of the MQM will take place
in Multan, the heart of the southern Punjab, on 23rd December 2011. He announced
this while talking to the office-bearer and workers of the MQM in the office of
the Lahore Zone of the party. Members of the committees of various towns of
Lahore were also present on the occasion.
Mr Hussain appealed to the people living in cities, town and villages of the
southern Punjab, particularly the Seraiki-speaking people, to come to the public
meeting in Multan in large numbers and make a new history.
Mr Hussain asked the workers of all the districts, including the Multan Zone to
start work for making the public meeting a success. He said that the people of
Pakistan have become fed up with the corrupt political culture and feudal system
that had been imposed in the country for the past 64 years. The ruling elte did
nothing but looting the country in the past 64 years and the condition of common
people has deteriorated from bad to worse.
Mr Hussain said that there was no security to the life and property of the
people even today. There was unchecked inflation and the crises of water,
electricity and gas were deepening with each passing day. Even items of daily
use were sliding out of the reach of the people. The despondency in the public
had reached the highest point.
Mr Hussain said that the younger generation must come forward as only they can
save the country and make a real turnaround from the fast deteriorating
situation. He hoped that the younger generation will save the country.
Mr Hussain said that the MQM is a liberal political party in which all segments
of the society were duly represented. It believes in religious and sectarian
harmony. The MQM was the only political party in the country that was striving
for the rights of all religious minorities. The MQM was opposed to oppressing
the women because of the age-old customs such as karo-kari and wani and it wants
abolition of these brutal customs from the country.
Mr Hussain congratulated senior members of the MQM Punjab on becoming members of
the Central Executive Council of the party
