ALTAF HUSSAIN REJECTS ALLEGATIONS AGAINST
MQM AND ITS LEADERSHIP AS BASELESS

CANNOT EVEN THINK ABOUT BREAKING PAKISTAN IN COLLUSION WITH THE WEST OR
THE UNITED STATES DID NOT WRITE ANY LETTER TO THE BRITISH PM FOR BAN ON ISI
.

LONDON: 16TH NOVEMBER 2011:

Founder and Leader of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) Mr Altaf Hussain has rejected the allegations of treason against the MQM and its leadership as shocking, concocted, absurd and utter lies. He said that such allegations were brought against the MQM in the past as well but it had always emerged successfully from them. He said that the MQM was accused of the Jinnahpur conspiracy in the past but it proved to be false. He was talking to the members of the MQM Legal Aid Committee and Muttahida Lawyers Forum at Nine Zero on telephone.

Mr Hussain brushed aside all the allegations levelled by former home minister of Sindh in a press conference on 28th August 2011 and said that all the allegations were concocted, absurd, appalling and based upon falsehood. He said that the allegations reflected a diseased, feudalistic and bigoted mind.

In response to a question Mr Hussain said that the MQM and its leadership were patriotic and they would not refrain from giving any sacrifice for Pakistan and its stability and hence they could not even think of becoming a part of the conspiracy to break Pakistan in collusion with the west or the United States.  He asserted that the allegation made against him in this context by Zulfiqar Mirza were utter lies.

Mr Hussain said that the MQM is a patriotic political party and the poor, oppressed and dispossessed segments across the country were joining the MQM in large numbers. He said that people belonging to all the nationalities and followers of all the faiths were present in the MQM and they were represented in the MQM Co-ordination Committee as well. The MQM is against bigotry and considered all Pakistanis as their brothers hence the allegation against the MQM of being against the Pashtuns or any other nationality was also disgraceful and utter slander.

Answering a question regarding the alleged letter written to the British Prime Minister about banning the ISI, Mr Hussain dismissed the allegation and said that the MQM takes great pride in the armed forces of Pakistan and its allied departments. He said that he had not written any letter to the British Prime Minister and this allegation of Zulfiqar Mirza was also bogus. He added that the letter waved and imputed to him was fake.

Mr Hussain rejected all the allegations in unequivocal terms and said that the allegations were dismissed by Faisal Sabzwari on 30th August 2011 and by Mustafa Kamal on 6th September 2011 from the MQM side.

In the end Mr Hussain asked the members of the Legal Aid Committee and the Muttahida Lawyers Forum to discharge their responsibilities dutifully. He asked them to expedite the work for helping the people and giving legal aid to the jailed workers in pursuing their cases. He asked them to start a membership campaign in order to attract more and more lawyers to the MQM. He also appreciated that role of the lawyers’ community in the independence of judiciary.
