ALTAF HUSSAIN FETED BY THE GADDI NASHEEN OF DARGAH SHARIF, RECEIVED WARMLY BY TRAIN PASSENGERS ON WAY TO AJMER

NEW DELHI (NOV 17,2004)...MQM leader Altaf Hussain who visited the holy city of Ajmer Sharif had a memorable time at the Dargah Sharif, Khawaja Gharieb Nawaz, Hazrat Khawaja Moinuddin Chishti Ajmeri, titled as “Sultan-e-Hind” by millions of his followers in the subcontinent and abroad.
The Gaddi nasheen of the Dargah Sharif, Bilal Hussain Chishti held a lunch at his residence in honour of the MQM leader and Rabita Committee members, accompanying him on the Indian visit.
The function was largely attended by a cross section of opinion leaders. Mr Hussain was presented “tabarruk” and a wide variety of literature and books on a personality whose contribution to dissemination of knowledge about Islam in the subcontinent has been acknowledged the world over.
He received an equally warm welcome during his train journey from Delhi to the AJMER. Passengers were pleasantly surprised to see him in their midst. Most of them appreciated his stand for cordial relationship between India and Pakistan, and said they were happy to learn that he stood for solution of problems between the two countries. A lady doctor on board fully backed views about friendship in the area. A delegation of ladies told him that its members had listened to his speech at the International Conference of Hindustan Times and were fully in agreement with his views. They welcomed the idea of peace and amity in the region. Mr. Hussain mixed freely with passengers, and distributed “tabarruk” among children.
Similar sentiments were expressed by a fairly large crowd of devotees present at the shrine, and prayed for the success of his mission. They included visitors from different regions of India and Pakistan. They told him that Mr Hussain enjoyed the blessings of Aulia-e-deen and God willing will succeed in his mission to normalize Indo-Pakistan relations.
During his three hour visit to the holy place, the MQM leader was also interviewed by the premier Indian news agency Asia News International (ANI) about reduction in forces of the two countries, and about his own views or peace in the subcontinent.
