MQM DELEGATION VISITS KESC HEAD OFFICE

KARACHI: 25TH MAY 2011

A five member delegation of the Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) headed by member of the Co-ordination Committee Dr Sagheer Ahmed called upon the management of Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) and expressed concerns over the problems being faced by the people because of long power outages in the city. Senator Abdul Haseeb, MNA Abdul Qadir Khanzada, Provincial Minister Faisal Sabzwari and Advisor to CM Sindh Khawaja Izharul Hassan were the other members of the delegation.

The delegation apprised the KESC management that the problems of the people have been compounded by the dispute between the management and labour union of the KESC. The people were already braving long hours of load-shedding in oppressive summer and the dispute had added insult to the injury. The normal life and business activities had been adversely affected by unavailability of electric power. A water crisis was also taking shape in the city because of load shedding. The only way out was a durable solution of the problem.

The delegation stressed upon the need of discussing all the problems through negotiations. They also called for action against the miscreants responsible for damaging KESC property and equipment. The KESC management informed the MQM delegation that the KESC was taking all possible steps to reduce load shedding in the city.
