MQM PUBLIC REFERENDUM COMES TO AN END

Public Referendum campaign by Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) that started on 11th May came to an end at 12 am yesterday after one week. The Founder and Leader of the MQM had asked 17 questions to the people of Pakistan in view of the precarious situation confronting the country in the wake of Abbottabad operation by the US forces. The result of the public referendum is being complied and it will be announced to the public after a few days.

Pakistanis living in the United Kingdom, the United States and Gulf states also showed keen interest in the referendum and expressed their views by answering the questions that were asked by Mr Altaf Hussain.

The results obtained from different parts of the country and from abroad are being consolidated and computerized. MQM Election Cell and Media Cell are working overnight to compile the results as soon as possible.

The Co-ordination Committee of the MQM has thanked all those who took part in the referendum and cast their votes by filling-in the questionnaire form. The Committee said that the direction for moving ahead for a better future of the country can only be found in the light of the views of the people.

Camps were put up across Pakistan in order to facilitate the people in expressing their views. The Co-ordination Committee took the members of print and electronic media on a tour of the camps in Karachi on the last day of referendum.
