TERRORISM IN HAZARA TOWN AIMED AT STOKING SECTARIAN VIOLENCE: MQM

Co-ordination Committee of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) has deplored and condemned the incident of terrorism in Hazara Town area of Quetta. The Committee expressed profound grief and sorrow over the deaths of several people and injuries to many other. The Committee termed the armed terrorism in Quetta an attempt to stoking sectarian violence in the city. They also said that the elements that were involved in the vicious and dastardly activities of inciting sectarian feud and violence were open enemies of Islam and humanity.

The Committee said that that the terrorists were targeting innocent people of a particular school of thought which should be condemned in the strongest possible terms. The Committee appealed to the people to stay calm and frustrate the conspiracy of fomenting sectarian violence in the city by remaining peaceful.

The Committee demanded of President Asif Zardari, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gillani and Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik to take immediate notice of the terrorism in Hazara Town Quetta. The Committee called for effective steps to foil the conspiracy of sectarian violence and said that the ruthless killers must be given exemplary punishment. The Committee expressed sympathies and condolences to the family members of those who lost their lives in the attack and prayed for the early recovery of the injured.

 

MQM SENATORS CALL FOR WITHDRAWAL OF HIKE IN POWER CHARGES

KARACHI: 6TH MAY 2011:

Senators belonging to the Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) have denounced an increase of 2 per cent in the electricity tariff. Condemning the hike in power charges they termed the decision as unjust and a continuation of anti-people policies. The senators said that the people across the country were facing long power outages that have hit the normal life. They deplored that business activities in the country were adversely affected due to long hours of load-shedding.

The senators said that the government has given a free hand to the power distribution companies. They said that the companies were doing nothing to ensure smooth and continuous supply of electricity which was reprehensible. The decried that increasing power in the present chaotic situation was uncalled for as it would only create problems for the already burdened people. The senators stressed upon President Asif Zardari and Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gillani to withdraw the decision of 2 per cent power increment immediately and stop the policies against the interest of common people.
