MQM’S WORLDWIDE PROTEST

MUTTAHIDA QUAMI MOVEMENT (MQM) BEGINS ITS WORLDWIDE PROTEST CAMPAIGN TO PROTEST AGAINST THE CONTINUED INJUSTICES, ATROCITIES AND THE DENIAL OF THEIR FUNDAMENTAL RIGHTS BY THE SUCCESSIVE GOVERNMENTS OF PAKISTAN INCLUDING THE PRESENT MILITARY GOVERNMENT

Canberra, Australia

In the third phase of the MQM’s Worldwide Protests Campaign, the MQM Australia Unit organised a peaceful protest demonstration in front of the Parliament Building in Canberra, Australia.  A large number of Pakistani Mohajirs living in Australia attended this demonstration.

The participants including young children distributed leaflets. During the demonstration, the participants also chanted slogans to stop the brutalities against the peaceful Mohajir nation in Pakistan, particularly in the urban centres of Sindh province.

A three-member delegation submitted the petition from the Pakistanis living in Australia to the Office of the Prime Minister and the Office of the Minister for Foreign Affairs.  The secretaries who received the petition assured the delegation that the Government of Australia will look into the matter and would certainly raise their voice.  Moreover, it was also decided that a close contact through meetings would be kept with the office bearers of the MQM Australia Unit in the future.

The MQM Australia Unit also organised a demonstration in front of the Office of the United Nations and also submitted a similar petition to the representative of the United Nations.
