We are grateful to you for coming to attend this Press Conference. The purpose of the conference is to inform you about the killings of innocent MQM workers, sympathizers and citizens and also about the attack on MQM offices with hand grenades.

In the last few days alone several MQM workers, sympathizers and innocent citizens have fallen victim to the acts of terrorism and the injuring of the MQM workers in incidents of firings and attacks on the offices of the MQM continues relentlessly. According to the available details an MQM worker Ghulam Hussain Jafri s/o Muhammad Hussain Jafri of unit 167 of Nazimabad Gulbahar Sector was attacked by armed assailants involved in terrorism and drug peddling resulting in his death. Another MQM worker Muhammad Shafi was severely injured in the same incident. According to eye-witness accounts 24 years old Ghulam Hussain Jafri and Muhammad Shafi were sitting in a park when the terrorists fired upon them from very close range. Ghulam Hussain Jafri died on the spot while Muhammad Shafi was injured and was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medical attention. MQM elected representatives, office-bearers and workers reached Abbasi Shaheed Hospital on getting the sad news and were overcome by the grief at the martyrdom of their colleague Ghulam Hussain Jafri.
MQM supporters Saleem Qureshi and Naeem Qureshi of unit 19 Old Layari Sector were killed in an incident of armed attack. In another incident unknown terrorists attacked with hand grenades on the office of Unit 50 of PIB Sector. Fortunately no one was injured in this attack as the office was closed but the structure of the office was damaged.

We would also like to inform you about the killing and injury of MQM workers, sympathizers and citizens from 16th March to 19th March.
Kamran Ali s/o Shoukat Ali, worker of MQM unit 108 Shah Faisal Sector was killed as a result of firing of armed terrorists from Hazara Chowk. An MQM supporter Khalid s/o Ashraf Ali was injured in the incident.
Owais worker of Ahsanabad unit, Scheme 33 Sector was injured while hoisting party flags in connection with the Foundation Day of the MQM.
Armed assailants belonging to the gang war fired at the house of the president of Sher Shah Kabari Market Association Malik Zahid. He is now receiving threatening messages after the registration of the FIR.
Jawed, a relative of Joint Unit In-charge of unit UC – 3, Kharadar, Afzal was injured in a firing incident just because of his relation with Afzal.
MQM worker Lal Muhammad was killed in Lashari Mohalla, Sector 49 – N, unit 76, Korangi Sector by terrorists belonging to the gang war. MQM workers Sultan and Ayaz were injured in the same incident.
Terrorists of belonging to the land and drug mafia broke into the office of MQM in Shah Rasool Colony in Defence Clifton Sector. Local MQM workers are being intimidated against continuing with the party work in the area.
Faisal Hameed s/o Abdul Hameed, worker of unit 3, Defence Clifton Sector was killed by the terrorists of the gang war and Amn Committee at PIDC bridge. Another worker Muhammad Ehtasham was seriously injured.
MQM worker Muhammad Danish s/o Muhammad Akhter and sympathizer Muhammad Danish s/o Muhammad Mubeen of unit 132 Qasba Aligarh Sector were injured when the terrorists belonging to land and drug mafia opened fired on them.
Muhammad Ali s/o Nawabuddin, younger brother of unit committee member of Unit 31, Layari Sector was killed by the terrorists of Peoples Amn Committee and gang war.
Shahid s/o Atta of unit UC – 3, Ranchore Lines Sector, was seriously injured by the firing of terrorists of the Peoples Amn Committee in Jodia Bazar Area.
Imran, worker of UC – 1, Agra Taj was seriously injured by the firing of the terrorists belonging to the gang war. An unknown passer-by was also injured as a result of the firing that later on died as a result of his injuries.
Armed terrorists belonging to the gang war stopped buses, cars, taxis and rickshaws at Ali hotel, UC – 4, Baghdadi police station, and subjected MQM workers and supporters to bodily torture.
Naeem Qureshi and Saleem Qureshi, both very good supporters of MQM, were killed by the terrorists of the gang war in dhobi ghat area of Usmanabad.

The purpose behind informing about these incidents is that the policy of toleration and forbearance of the MQM should not be misconstrued as its weakness. We are bearing the killings of our workers and supporters with patience for the continuation of the democracy and the stability in the country. Nonetheless there is limit of everything and the patience of MQM workers and haq Parast public is beginning to give way. The government and the people at the helm of affairs must take heed and take steps for controlling the situation.

We demand President Asif Zardari, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gillani, Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik, Governor Sindh Dr Ishrat-ul-Ebad, Chief Minister Sindh and other responsible people to arrest the terrorists involved in the killings of MQM workers and sympathizers and those involved in attacking MQM offices. We also demand action against the elements that are giving protection and patronage to these killers.
We sympathize with the families of the martyred MQM workers. Mr Altaf Hussain, members of the Co-ordination Committee and each and every worker of MQM stand by them in their grief. We pray Allah to rest the departed souls in the eternal peace.
