ALTAF HUSSAIN CONCERNED AT CONTINUING STRIKE OF DOCTORS IN PUNJAB

LONDON: 16TH MARCH 2011

The Founder and Leader of Muttahida Quami Movement Mr Altaf Hussain has expressed his concerns over the continuing strike by the young doctors in the Punjab and has said that  the legitimate demands of the young protesting doctors should be accepted immediately. Mr Altaf Hussain said that the doctors have been forced to protest for the past two weeks because of their low salary and problems being faced by them due to sharp increase in the cost of living. He regretted that the Punjab Provincial government is not doing anything to solve the issue due to which patients are facing difficulties in the hospitals.

Mr Altaf Hussain said that the salaries of young doctors are not on a par with the salaries in other countries of the world due to which a large number of such doctors have immigrated to foreign countries. He said that the countries where the salaries of the doctors were not adequate have increased the salaries considerably and hence their doctors are willingly performing their duties in their own countries. He demanded of President Asif Zardari and Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gillani to take notice of the strike and solve the problems of the young doctors in the Punjab.
