KARACHI: 10TH MARCH 2011:

Members of the MQM Central Coordination Committee have expressed their concerns over the killing of a dacoit by the citizens at Kharadar, Karachi, today and said that patronisation of the criminal elements has shaken the confidence of people on the law enforcers and compel them to take law into their own hands thus igniting lawlessness.

In a statement, Members of the MQM Coordination Committee said that  killing of a dacoit today by the shopkeepers is  a manifestation that the innocent and helpless citizens of  Karachi having lost faith on the law enforcers left with no choice but to take the law into their own hands since it has become apparent that the criminals have been given unbridled impunity to murder, loot, plunder, kidnap, extort through extortion notes and cellular phone calls citizens while they see that the Home Minister of Sindh, the protector of the citizens is patronising the criminals of the Peoples Amn Committee openly by declaring them part of the Pakistan Peoples Party and terming it to be a Social Organisation like Edhi Foundation.

The Members of the Central Coordination Committee said that this is a sign of lawlessness and misgovernance of the government. Also indicate that the criminals have full support of some of the important government personalities which is very dangerous for the law and order situation of the country in future and if the government did not stop this kind of criminals act of looting, extorting, kidnapping for ransom this will be tantamount to produce anarchy in the country which may be fatal for the people and the country.

Members of the MQM Coordination Committee demanded of the government to protect the country from robbers, kidnappers, extorters and save the life and property of the citizen of Pakistan and punish those who commit and patronise and support the criminals to do such kind of heinous crimes. They urge the government to protect the country from reaching towards anarchical situation.

MQM CO-ORDINATION COMMITTEE CONDEMNS HIKE IN ELECTRICITY AND FLOOD SURCHARGE TARIFF

KARACHI: 10TH MARCH 2011

The Co-ordination Committee of Muttahida Quami Movement has expressed its grave concerns over the decision to increase electricity tariff by 6 per cent and flood surcharge excise duty by 1.5 per cent at the behest of international donor agencies. They said that the life of the people has become miserable due to prolonged hours of load-shedding that has badly affected industrial and business activities as well. They said that yet another increase in electricity tariff will only compound the problems of the people and the poor people will be hit directly as this will result in a sharp increase in inflation.

The Co-ordination Committee said that the onset of the summer season has brought out into the open the tall claims to reduce load-shedding through rental power plants. They said that the hike in electricity tariff and flood surcharge is manifestly unjust which they will not accept. They said that instead of increasing the tariff every time the government should try to control load-shedding and provide relief to the people along with setting the wheal on industry in motion. The Co-ordination Committee demanded of President Asif Zardari and Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gillani to desist from burdening the people by imposing punitive taxes.
