MQM CO-ORDINATION COMMITTEE DELIBERATES ABOUT PARTING OF WAYS WITH PPP

TAKES STRONG VIEW OF THE AVOWED SUPPORT OF ZULFIKAR MIRZA TO THE CRIMINALS AND BANDITS

KARACHI: 7TH MARCH 2011

The Co-ordination Committee of Muttahida Quami Movement went into a joint session in Pakistan and London simultaneously on 6th March 2011 which continued late in the night.  The meeting condemned the avowed support of Provincial Home Minister Zulfikar Mirza to the band of criminals “Peoples Amn Committee” and regarding this group of criminals and bandits as the auxiliary organization of the Pakistan Peoples Party. The following decisions were taken by the committee after exhaustive discussion:

1.       The fact that Provincial Home Minister aids and abets the terrorists and criminals of the Peoples Amn Committee is not hidden from anyone and it has led to an increase in the incidents of kidnappings for ransom, robberies and demanding of extortion money from traders, market associations and shopkeepers. Now even artists are also being sent slips for extortion money. People from every segment of the society are perturbed over the situation and there is an acute sense of insecurity and helplessness. MQM has informed about this situation to the President, the Prime Minister, the Federal Minister for Interior and the Chief Minister of Sindh on numerous occasions. Each time assurance was given that steps will be taken against the criminal elements to stop the incidents of crime, the support given by Zulfikar Mirza would end and that action will be taken against him. Despite all the assurances given on various occasions nothing has been done and now Zulfikar Mirza has publicly declared to make the Peoples Amn Committee an auxiliary organization of the Peoples Party. The Co-ordination Committee has reached at a decision that in the present situation it cannot continue working with the Peoples Party. It was also decided in the meeting that the President and the Prime Minister will be informed about the decision of the Co-ordination Committee after meeting with them.

2.       MQM legislators in the Provincial Assembly of Sindh will boycott the proceedings of the Assembly and the sessions of the National Assembly and the Senate will also be boycotted when their sessions are called.
