ALTAF HUSSAIN EXPRESSES HIS GRIEF AND SORROW OVER MASSIVE LOSSES DUE TO TSUNAMI IN JAPAN

The Founder and Leader of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) Mr Altaf Hussain has
expressed his extreme sense of grief and sorrow over the loss of life and
property after a massive earthquake in the north-east of Japan being described
as one of the largest earthquake in the history measuring 8.9 on the Richter
scale. Mr Altaf Hussain expressed his heartfelt sympathies with the government
of Japan, its ambassador and consul general in Pakistan. Mr Altaf Hussain said
that all the workers of MQM stand with the people of Japan in this hour of
disaster. He appealed to national and international agencies to start their
relief efforts immediately in order to bring help to the people hit by the
earthquake and the tsunami triggered by the quake.
Meanwhile member of the Co-ordination Committee and former Deputy Mayor of
Karachi Mrs Nasrin Jalil telephoned the Consul General of Japan in Karachi and
expressed sympathies on behalf of Mr Altaf Hussain over massive losses caused by
the earthquake. Mrs Jalil extended full co-operation from MQM and assured that
MQM stands with the people of Japan in this difficult time.
