ALTAF’S RENEWED GESTURE TOWARDS LOOTERS AND PLUNDERERS TO BRING THEIR WEALTH TO EXCHEQUERS.

London – 25th March 2006

MQM Founder & Leader Mr Altaf Hussain has announced that to save Pakistan, MQM is willing to give one more chance to the political leaders, who looted and plundered country’s wealth, if they are ready to bring the plundered wealth back to the national exchequer. He said that Pakistan is passing through a precarious phase, therefore, we must review our foreign policy, stop terming India, Afghanistan and Iran as enemies; and establish friendly relations with neighbouring countries. Mr Hussain was expressing his views while addressing the 22nd MQM Foundation Day celebrations in London attended by MQM supporters from London and other cities of United Kingdom, Pakistan, Belgium, Norway, America, Canada and other countries.

Mr Hussain said those who used to accuse him of fleeing the country, and claiming that they will never leave the country and face the courts – why are they living in exile now? During the discussions, comments and programs on television, so called analyst discus about only two political parties but they never mention the name of MQM which is the third largest political party of Pakistan. If MQM had been a political party of feudal lords then its name would have been mentioned. If Altaf Hussain had wealth, accounts in Swiss banks, properties and sugar mills then his name would have also been mentioned, he said. Mr Hussain explained that the reason why his name is not mentioned is because he does not belong to the feudal class but was born in a middleclass family. He said that his struggle is not for power but to rid the country off the clutches of the two percent feudal lords and waderas and to establish the governance of the honest and true representatives of the 98 percent poor and middleclass people. He said that MQM believes in realism and Practicalism. Reality is that for the past 58 years Pakistan is ruled by the 2 percent feudal lords and waderas, who are getting rich day by day whereas the poor and middleclass have become second class citizens and face hardships. Practicalism dictates that for the sustenance of Pakistan it is necessary to struggle for the complete abolishment of the medieval feudal system – and this could only be achieved through the struggle of poor and middleclass.

Mr Hussain said that after the South Asian visit of President Bush it has become abundantly clear that American inclination is towards India rather than Pakistan. Certain analysts are today debating that if America has made agreements with India then our friendship with China is everlasting and strong.  Mr Hussain said that these analysts are deceiving the people – as previously they used to say the same for America. During the 1971 War, the nation was told that American Seventh Fleet is on its way, China will come to our rescue; however, neither China nor the Seventh Fleet arrived to our aid. Mr Hussain emphasised that a country is defended by its people and for the sustenance and defence of our borders the rulers, political leaders and the nation must stand on their own feet and stop their depending on others. He appealed to the entire political leadership that the country is undergoing a critical phase and they must now sit together and think on how to save the country. Why do we only look towards China? If we have to establish friendship and close relations then why cannot we make close friendship with India. He said that the people of Pakistan and India share the same cultural, social and traditional values. Both the countries share same style of dress, dishes, films, way of living etc; therefore, it is more natural to promote friendship and harmony between them.

Mr Hussain that the difficulties faced by the country today is the direct result of poor governance and wrong policies of the past rulers. He asked as to who established training camps in the name of jihad during the Cold War between America and Soviet Union? Who befooled the public in the name of jihad and used them for American interest during the war? Speaking on the current uncertain situation of the country, Mr Hussain advised the rulers to review the foreign policy, stop terming India, Afghanistan and Iran as enemies; and establish friendly relations with neighbouring countries. We must look at Europe, where today they have adopted the path of peace and friendship instead of war – and have established the European Union; therefore, we must also work towards peace and friendship and not war.  On this occasion Mr Hussain announced that to save Pakistan, MQM is willing to give one more chance to the political leaders, who looted and plundered the country’s wealth, and once again offer his hand of friendship. These political leaders must bring the looted wealth back to the national exchequer and also pledge that in future they will work for the country’s interest and not for personal gains. He invited the entire political leadership to come together and discuss how to save Pakistan. He also invited the leadership of MMA to come forward for the country’s sustenance and stop issuing “fatwas” and spreading hatred against non-Muslims in the name of jihad. Mr Hussain said that all religions are sacrosanct, and to spread hatred against other religions and killing their followers is contrary to the teachings of Islam. Islam is the religion of peace, it does not teach hatred but preaches for peace, harmony and tranquillity. He said that MQM is the only political party of the country, which respects all religions and sects and believes in equal rights for all. It does not hate anyone and respect the rights of religious minorities.

Mr Hussain said that despite all the negative propaganda against the MQM, its message has now spread to other provinces including Azad Kashmir, where MQM has established its offices. The poor and middle class people of Pakistan are uniting under the banner of MQM and very soon a time will come when the medieval feudal system will vanish from the country – and the poor and middle class will rule. Mr Hussain assured that MQM will make Pakistan the land of peace and harmony; remove all differences amongst its people and consider everyone as equal Pakistani; work towards establishing lasting peace in the region and have friendly relations with all our neighbouring countries. In the end he paid tributes to the workers of MQM UK Unit for successfully organising the 22nd Foundation Day of the MQM in London.

IT IS NATURAL FOR COUNTRIES TO COME CLOSE TO EACH OTHER, DEVELOP FRIENDSHIP AND PROMOTE HARMONY WHEN THEY SHARE IDENTICAL SOCIAL VALUES, COMMON CULTURE AND TRADITIONS
– ALTAF HUSSAIN

London – 25th March 2006

Countries sharing common interests, identical social values, culture and traditions have a natural tendency to develop friendship and love amongst its citizens. MQM Founder & Leader Mr Altaf Hussain stated this while addressing a public gathering in London, organised to celebrate the 22nd Foundation Day of the MQM. Mr Hussain said that the people of Pakistan and India have common cultural, social and traditional values. People of both the countries share same style of dress, dishes like pulses, nihari, korma, biryani, sheermaal and chapatti etc. All these dishes are cooked and served in similar manner in both the countries. They also have the identical physical characteristics, manner of speech and attire. Both the countries produce similar types of films, songs, dramas and even the dialogues. He said that if people from both the countries were gathered in a hall then it would be impossible to distinguish Pakistanis from Indians. On the contrary it would relatively easy to distinguish between a gathering of Pakistanis among Americans, Europeans, Chinese and Japanese. He emphasised that it is natural for the people of both the countries to come close to each other, develop friendship and promote harmony when they share identical social values, common culture and traditions – and Islam also preaches respect for the rights of neighbours.
