EXTRA-JUDICIAL EXECUTIONS

TWO MQM WORKERS EXECUTED EXTRA-JUDICIALLY IN
STAGED POLICE ENCOUNTER IN KARACHI

London - 8 March 1999

According to the eyewitnesses and the family members, today, around 4.45 a.m. Pakistan Time (9.45 a.m. GMT), the personnel of Liaquatabad Police Station, Karachi raided the houses of the MQM workers Farid Ahmed Khan and Shamim Ahmed Khan and arrested them. Farid Ahmed Khan was the cousin of Shamim Ahmed Khan.

Once again the police extra-judicially executed the above named persons after their arrests and claimed it to be the "Police Encounter". The bodies of the victims were then dumped at "Jahnda Chowk", Ward No. 164, Liaquatabad, Karachi. The victims legs and hands were tied behind their backs. Farid Ahmed Khan was the cousin of Shamim Ahmed Khan. The bodies of the victims bore laceration marks all over that was a proof a brutal torture while in custody of the State. The torture was inflicted with the view to forcibly extract confessional statements befitting the schemes of the Nawaz Sharif Government.
