JOINT MEETING OF MQM REJECTS UNWARRANTED INTERFERENCE
BY THE GOVERNMENT IN KASHMIR ELECTION

A joint meeting of Co-ordination Committee of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) in Pakistan and London, Senators, members of National Assembly (MNAs) and members of provincial assembly (MPAs) was held simultaneously in London, Karachi and Islamabad. Mr Altaf Hussain, the founder and leader of the MQM, presided over the meeting. The meeting expressed serious concerns over the unwarranted and uncalled for interference by the government in the upcoming general elections in Kashmir and the undemocratic attitude of the government. It was unanimously resolved in the meeting that the undemocratic and unconstitutional pressure that is being brought to bear on the MQM by the government will not be accepted at any cost. It was decided that the undemocratic and unconstitutional pressure will be forcefully opposed.

The meeting also decided that the MQM would not withdraw from any constituency in the Kashmir elections. It was asserted that it was the democratic right of the MQM to take part in the elections and the MQM would exercise its democratic right at all coast . The meeting said that if the government did not change its undemocratic and belligerent attitude then the MQM could take any decision by exercising its democratic right howsoever high the price might be.
