STATE OF EMERGENCY DECLARED IN MQM IN VIEW OF THE CYCLONE THREAT

KARACHI: 9TH JUNE 2011

Emergency has been declared in Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) in view of the impending tropical cyclone that may hit Karachi and the coastal areas of Sindh. Office-bearers of all the wings of the MQM have been asked to remain alert to meet with any emergency situation. The Founder and Leader of the MQM Mr Altaf Hussain has directed the officials of the Khidmat-e-Khalq Foundation and the MQM to maintain a state of preparedness. He has asked for the establishment of emergency relief centres in the party offices. He has also issues instructions to put up medical and relief camps in the areas that are threatened with the tropical cyclone building in the Arabian Sea. He issued these instructions at a meeting of the Co-ordination Committee, Interior Sindh Organizational Committee and Karachi Suburbs Organizing Committee at Khursheed Begum Secretariat on Thursday the 9th June.

Mr Hussain said that the meteorological department has issues advisory warnings for thunderstorm and heavy rains in Karachi and the coastal areas of Sindh. He said that if the storm came poor farmers would be the worst affected. He said that it was the duty of all the workers of the MQM to take steps for the protection of life and property of the poor people at all cost.

Mr Hussain said that to serve the people was the noblest act of devotion and driving force behind the politics of the MQM was serving the helpless people. He asked the MQM workers and officials not to wait for other political parties while helping the poor people. He also asked the Medical Aid Committee of the MQM to prepare themselves for voluntary duties in the areas that might be hit by the cyclone.

Mr Hussain directed the Co-ordination Committee and the Chief Trustee of the KKF to establish emergency relief centres at the MQM Head Office Nine Zero, KKF Head Office, Zonal Offices  in Interior Sindh and the coastal areas of Karachi and Sindh.  

 

ALTAF HUSSAI CONDOLES THE DEATH OF NOTED ARTIST JAMEEL FAKHRI

The Founder and Leader of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) Mr Altaf Hussain has expressed his grief and sorrow over the tragic death of legendary artist Jameel Ahmed Fakhri. He said that the country has lost a great artist in the death of Jameel Fakhri. He would always be remembered for his memorable characters and performances during a career that spanned decades. He sympathized with the bereaved family members and prayed for the divine forgiveness and heavenly bliss of the departed soul.
