TELEPHONIC CONVERSATION BETWEEN ALTAF HUSSAIN AND MAULANA FAZLUR REHMAN

The Founder and Leader of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) Mr Altaf Hussain has had a telephonic conversation with the head of JUI (F) Maulana Fazlur Rehman. Both the leaders exchanged views on Azad Kashmir elections, Kashmir conference and the situation obtaining in the country after the decision by the MQM to sit on opposition benches. Mr Hussain informed Maulana Fazlur Rehman about the reasons for deciding to sit in opposition and added that the MQM had refused to be bullied in the past and it will not accept highhandedness in the future as well. The MQM is a democratic party and it firmly believes in the democratic norms. Maulana Fazlur Rehman hailed the bold decision taken by the MQM and said that it would strengthen the opposition. He said that the treatment meted out to the MQM by the PPP was entirely undemocratic and added that the conduct of the PPP had created frustrations in the Kashmir people.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman informed Mr Hussain that he was holding an All Parties National Kashmir Conference on 28th July on the Kashmir dispute. He extended invitation to the MQM attend this conference. Mr Hussain praised the holding of the conference and accepted the invitation. He assured Maulana Fazlur Rehman that the MQM would not only actively participate in the conference but also help in its holding. Mr Hussain also praised the efforts of Maulana Fazlur Rehman in highlighting the Kashmir dispute. Both the leaders agreed that the opposition parties would raise voice for the solution of public problems and would work for promoting democratic culture I n the country. The internal and external threats that are facing the country were also discussed in detail during the talk that last for over half an hour.
