HRCP DELEGATION VISITS NINE ZERO

KARACHI: 31ST JULY 2011

A representative delegation of the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) visited the Head Office of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) today and met members of Co-ordination Committee Mrs Nasrin Jalil, Mr Mustafa Kamal, Mr Kunwar Khalid Yunus and Mr Wasay Jalil. The HRCP delegation included Ms Hina Jillani, Mr I. A. Rehman, Mr Asad Butt, and Mr Ronald De Souza. Political and economic condition of Sindh and Karachi and other issues of mutual interest came under discussion during the meeting. The delegation expressed grave concerns on the recent spate of terrorism in Karachi.

Members of the MQM Co-ordination Committee apprised the HRCP delegation about the efforts being made by the MQM leader Mr Altaf Hussain for bringing peace and stability in Karachi. Members of the delegation welcomed the efforts being made by Mr Hussain for establishing peace and security in Karachi. They also informed the delegation that Mr Hussain had appealed to all political parties and their leaders to make concerted efforts for restoring a durable peace in Karachi and the country. They also informed the delegation that the MQM was the only political party that had submitted a bill in the national assembly for the purpose of eliminating terrorism and making the country a free from weapons.

Earlier the HRCP delegation was welcomed at Nine Zero by members of the Co-ordination Committee. The delegation visited the office of the Fact Finding Committee of the MQM and inspected the record of the MQM martyrs and their photos.
