MQM WELCOMES SUNNI TEHREEK AT NINE ZERO

Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) and Sunni Tehreek (ST) have hailed the holding of peace rallies for establishing peace in the country particularly in Karachi. This was expressed by member of Co-ordination Committee of the MQM Dr Sagheer Ansari and the visiting head of Sunni Tehreek Mr Sarwat Aijaz Qadri at the MQM Head Office Nine Zero. A large number of the participants of the rally taken out by the ST were also present at the Nine Zero. Members of Co-ordination Committee Kunwar Khalid Yunus, Wasay Jalil, Mustafa Kamal, Raza Haroon, senior leader Aamir Khan were present from the MQM side. The ST delegation included Shakeel Qadri, Matloob Awan, Faheemuddin Shaikh and Shahzad Qadri.
Speaking on the occasion Mr Qadri said that the ST had taken peace initiative for restoring peace in Karachi on the appeal of Mr Altaf Hussain. He said that the ST would approach other political parties as well for the sake of establishing peace and stability in Karachi. He said that it was time to rise above the differences of caste, colour and creed for strengthening the country. He said that it was necessary to bring a change in our outlook by cultivating a culture of tolerance and accommodation for restoring peace to a city that contributed more than 70 per cent in the national exchequer.
Speaking on
the occasion Dr Sagheer Ahmed said that the MQM leader Mr Altaf Hussain had been
constantly making passionate appeals for peace in Karachi and parts of the
country. He welcomed the peace initiative taken by the Sunni Tehreek. He said
that besides the MQM it was the responsibility of other political parties as
well to come forward and play their due role for the peace of the city.
Mr Sagheer said that the doors of Nine Zero were opened for anyone who was
sincere in the restoration of peace. He added that all the workers of the MQM
are ready to contribute in every possible way for the establishment of peace in
Karachi. He said that all those who wanted peace and brotherhood to prevail must
sit together and make serious efforts for their city, province and country.
MQM CONDEMNS ATTACK ON JANG GROUP OFFICES IN INTERIOR SINDH

Co-ordination Committee of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) has strongly condemned the attacks on the offices of Geo TV and Jang in the Interior Sindh. The Committee deplored the manhandling of journalists and damage and destruction of property by certain elements in the Interior Sindh. In a statement the Co-ordination Committee said that one could disagree with the reports and analyses appearing in certain sections of press and media and one had the right to express ones point of views but the attacks at the offices and manhandling of the journalists could not be validated under any condition.
The Committee said that the staff members of Sama TV were also beaten in Karachi and their van was set on fire by armed assailants. Expressing complete solidarity with the journalists, the Co-ordination Committee denounced the attacks against press and media. The Committee said that these attacks were aimed at restraining the freedom of press and media. The Committee also demanded swift actions against the elements responsible for the attacks and called for providing security to the journalists.
