MQM CONDEMNS TERRORISM IN MALIR AND LANDHI, Karachi

DEPLORES INACTION FROM GOVERNMENT AND ADMINISTRATION

KARACHI: 22ND JULY 2011

The Co-ordination Committee of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) has deplored and denounced the attack and firing by the criminal elements on the localities in the areas of Malir and Khokhrapar. They expressed their grief and sorrow over the death of the MQM workers and sympathiser as a result of heavy firing by the armed terrorists. They said that the area of Malir was completely peaceful when criminal elements riding in cars and motor cycles started firing indiscriminately on various points in Khokhrapar area of Malir resulting in the death of several MQM workers and sympathisers and serious injuries to many others. These criminal elements also resorted to firing in Landhi as well in order to terrorize general public.

Condemning the terrorist attack by the criminal elements the Co-ordination Committee said that the brazen way in which the attack was carried out and innocent people were killed had made it plain as to which criminal elements were bent upon spoiling the law and order situation in the city. They said that the fear expressed by the committee a few days ago had been borne out by the terrorism in Khokhrapar, Malir. The committee said that the government failed to act promptly which was highly reprehensible. The terrorists remained in the area for several hours and continued to terrorize general public but the government and the administration failed to act quickly. The situation could have been controlled if the government and administration acted without delay.

The Co-ordination Committee demanded of President Asif Zardari, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gillani, Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik, Governor Sindh Dr Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan, Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah and Provincial Home Minister Manzoor Wassan to take serious notice of the killing of the MQM workers and sympathisers in Khokhrapar, Malir. They called for tough action against the enemies of the peace and said every possible step should be taken for restoring peace and tranquillity in the city.

The Co-ordination Committee sympathised with the bereaved family members of the MQM workers and sympathisers and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured. They also said that the MQM will stand in the way of the conspiracy to derail peace and will continue to work for peace in the city.
