MQM LEADERS VISIT AFFECTED AREAS OF KATI PAHARI, ORGANGI TOWN AND QASBA ALIGARH

KARACHI: 9TH JULY 2011:

Deputy Convener of the Co-ordination Committee of the MQM Dr Farooq Sattar, members Wasay Jalil and Syed Mustafa Kamal visited the affected areas of Kati Pahari, Orangi Town, Qasba Aligarh and Gulfamabad and met the people hit by the recent wave of terrorism in the city. Elected representatives and a large number of local office-bearers and workers of the MQM were also present on the occasion.

They MQM leaders distributed relief good among more than 3500 affected people. Relief items given to the people included rice, flour, sugar, tea, oil, ghee and other necessary things of daily use. The affected people informed the MQM leaders about the loss of life and property in consequence of the terrorism that had gripped these areas for the past several days. Speaking to the press and media Dr Farooq Sattar said that the MQM had come with a message of peace. It would serve the affected people irrespective of their linguistic background. He said that a permanent and durable solution of the problem should be found by the government in order to guard against the frequent outbreaks of terrorism and bloodbath in the areas adjacent to Kati Pahari. Dr Sattar appealed to all the political parties of Sindh to discharge their responsibilities for bringing peace and tranquility in the city so that terrorism could be wiped out. The affected people thanked Mr Altaf Hussain for sending relief goods and for his concern for their sufferings. 

 

MQM REQUISITIONS SPECIAL SESSION OF SINDH ASSEMBLY TO DISCUSS KARACHI SITUATION

 

KARACHI: 9TH JULY 2011: 

Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) has filed an application in the Sindh Assembly secretariat for requisitioning a special session of the Sindh Assembly to discuss the failing law and order situation in Karachi, killings of innocent citizens, firings on the commuters in transport buses, and deepening electricity crisis among other important issues. The requisition application has been signed by 45 MPAs of the MQM including the leader of the opposition Jam Madad Ali.

The MQM MPAs also staged a protest demonstration in the premises of the Sindh Assembly building over the continuing incidents of targeted killings and the deaths of innocent people in the city.

Speaking on the occasion leader of the MQM Mr Raza Haroon said that the special session of the assembly has been requisitioned with a view to discussing critical issues such as killing of innocent citizens and complete freedom with which the terrorists were operating in the city. Mr Haroon said that the assembly should be convened immediately so that important issues are discussed and the real situation is placed before the people.

Speaking about the restoration of commissionerate system Mr Haroon said that the MQM had a clear stance over the issue. The commissionerate system was a big obstacle in the way of empowering the people at the grassroots level.
