ALTAF HUSSAIN PROPOSES FORMULA FOR BRINGING PEACE IN KARACHI
INVITES ALL OTHER PARTIES TO SEND DELEGATIONS IN KARACHI TO KNOW THE REAL FACES OF THE ELEMENTS BEHIND FAILING LAW AND ORDER SITUATION
ALSO INVITES RETIRED ARMY OFFICERS AND JUDGES TO BECOME PART OF DELEGATION.

KARACHI: 26TH JULY 2011
Founder and Leader of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) Mr Altaf Hussain has proposed a peace formula for restoring peace and stability in Karachi. Speaking to a large assembly of the MQM office-bearers and workers at Lal Qila Ground, Azizabad, Mr Hussain said that all the religious and political parties in the country should send a five member delegation to Karachi for the sake of restoring peace. He said that if a single bullet is fired anywhere in the city, these delegations should be sent to the concerned area to see for themselves as to who is firing. They should see for themselves as to who is spoiling the peace of Karachi.

Mr Hussain also invited retired army officers and retired judges to become part of the delegations in order to ascertain the identity of those who are creating trouble. He asserted that if this was done everything would become crystal clear. Mr Hussain said that the leaders of all the religious and political parties should know that the elements behind the tragic incidents occurring in Karachi are working at the behest of foreign powers. He invited everyone to come forward and added let us build peace in Karachi together.

Mr Hussain particularly appealed to PML (N) and its leader Nawaz Sharif, Co-chairman of PPP Asif Zardari, Pir Saheb Pagara of PML (F), Imran Khan of PTI, Maulana Fazlur Rehman of JUI (F) and leaders of all other political and religious parties to send their delegations to Karachi. Mr Hussain also asked the local and national leaders of the PPP and the ANP to invite Mr Asfandyar Wali and Mr Asif Zardari to Karachi for ameliorating the situation. He asked them to get united and invite all other political and religious parties to take out a peace rally in Karachi. Mr Hussain said that he was holding out the hand of friendship in all sincerity and with good intentions. He said that everyone should come forward for establishing peace in Karachi. He asked that saving Karachi was equal to saving Pakistan.

Mr Hussain asked the ANP, the MQM, the PPP and the Kachhi community to reach those areas where bullets were being fired. Let us get united and say who is devastating the localities of the poor people in Karachi. Mr Hussain said that the MQM staunchly believed in democracy and it respected the vote bank of all the religious and political parties. If someone wanted to suppress the MQM with the brute force of the state then the history is witness that those who tried to eliminate the MQM were themselves eliminated.
Mr Hussain commended the Armed Forces and defence institutions for their bravery and added that those elements. He said that the country was passing through hard times and international powers were mounting pressure on the Army and other defence institutions. He said that some people were planning that they would do with the MQM whatever they wanted because the Army and defence institutions were busy in sorting out their own issues were mistaken. They were making plans on the assumptions that the Army and the Rangers will not intervene. He wanted to make it clear that the MQM did not need any support. The workers of the MQM were enough to protect their party.

Mr Hussain asked the MQM leaders, office-bearers, and workers to show restraint for the establishment of peace in Karachi. He asked them to control their emotions for the sake of the country.
Mr Hussain said that hard words were used against the Muhajirs but those hard words did not affect the Urdu-speaking people alone as the people of East Punjab had also migrated leaving behind their homes and hearths for the sake of the country. He asked MQM workers not to use disparaging language in retaliation.
Mr Hussain said that the MQM did not want to bring down the democratic government through conspiracies but the government must also take heed and avoid ridiculing the law and utter disrespect to the constitution. He asked the government not to corner the MQM because even a cat can attack ferociously if cornered from all sides.

Earlier Mr Hussain congratulated all the oppressed and deprived people of the country over the 14th Foundation Day of Muttahida Quami Movement. He said that the MQM that had started its journey as Muhajir Qaumi Movement was transformed into Muttahida Quami Movement on 26th July fourteen years ago in order to bring out a revolution of the poor and middle class people.
Mr Hussain made it clear that the MQM was no longer a representative political party of the Urdu-speaking people only as its network had spread in every nook and corner of the country.
