HAIDER RIZVI DENOUNCES NAWAZ’S STATEMENT CALLING FOR MILITARY COURTS IN KARACHI

ISLAMABAD: 3 JANUARY 2011:

Deputy Parliamentary Leader of the MQM in the National Assembly Haider Abbass Rizvi has denounced the statement of PML (N) leader Nawaz Sharif calling establishment of military courts in Karachi. Speaking in the National Assembly, he said that the statement made by Nawaz Sharif was unconstitutional, undemocratic and reflected Sharif’s utter disregard for the human rights.

Mr Rizvi said that Sharif had established the military courts in 1998 that the Supreme Court had abolished by declaring them unconstitutional. He said that the statement was a clear indication that Sharif would not hesitate from taking any unconstitutional step for subjugating the people of Karachi if he ever came back in power.

Mr Rizvi said that Karachi was not a conquered area for which Sharif is always thinking about military courts. It was the despotic attitude of Sharif that had brought the PML (N) into a state of political wilderness.
