ACROSS THE BOARD ACCOUNTABILITY IF THE REVOLUTION OF POOR AND
MIDDLE CLASS PEOPLE COMES IN THE COUNTRY: ALTAF HUSSAIN

KARACHI: 31ST JANUARY 2011

Founder and Leader of Muttahida Quami Movement have once again said that there will be across the board accountability, if a revolution of the poor and middle class people comes in the country. He was speaking at a luncheon hosted in honour the journalists, columnists, anchor persons, and representatives of print and electronic media; who had come from various parts of the country. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Altaf Hussain reiterated that MQM wanted to end the culture of politics of dynasty from the country and emancipating it from the clutches of the privileged class. He thanked all the journalists and media persons for coming to cover the National Solidarity Programme of the party. He gave answers to the questions being raised by the journalists on the occasion.

Mr Altaf Hussain said that venomous propaganda was done against MQM because it is the only party in the country that has its root in the poor and middle class people. Its leader also hailed from a middle class family living in a small house of 12o square yards. He said that MQM always taught discipline and asked its workers to discharge their responsibilities with sincerity. He said that the country needed honest and disciplined leadership, willing to discharge their responsibilities towards their country. He said that was in need of those honest people who attained position in society by sheer hard work instead of minting money by corruption, loot and plunder.

Mr Altaf Hussain said that revolutionary people have always been ridiculed and reviled throughout the world in order to keep the people away from becoming the part of revolution. He regretted that the same thing happened with MQM as well. He said that people across the length and breadth of the country, were given to understand that MQM was a terrorist party and an enemy of the country. Common people particularly the people of Punjab were told that MQM was responsible for dead bodies being found in gunny sacks in Karachi. This vitriolic propaganda was done with so much severity that common and unsuspecting people of the country formed a very negative image of MQM in their minds.

Mr Altaf Hussain said that the only crime which MQM had committed was that it sent people from poor and middle class in the corridors of power and brought the ordinary people in the assemblies. He appealed to the journalists and media people to see the truth for themselves and decide what was right and what was wrong.

In response to a question he said that he had to leave the country at the insistence of his workers after an attempt was made on his life. He declared that he was always ready to come to the country and was not afraid of death. He said that even if his death could bring a revolution in the country, then he would willingly sacrifice his life.

Speaking about the situation in Baluchistan he stressed upon engaging the leaders of Baluchistan in dialogue and said that the missing persons should be recovered. He also appealed to the Baluch leaders to stop the killing of those settlers who have been living in Baluchistan for many years.

Speaking about Kashmir, he said that if MQM came to power the Kashmir dispute would be resolved even if all the powers of the world united against it. He declared that even ISI and Army would be brought under the rule of government when MQM came to power. He said that MQM looked upon Kashmiries as their brothers. Had it not been so, MQM would not have assisted the Kashmiries for such a long period of time after the devastating earthquake.

Speaking about Kala Bagh Dam he said that a meeting of the experts of Sindh and other provinces should be convened and if the concerns of Sindh are satisfied then MQM would have no objection over Kala Bagh Dam.
