NO RESPITE TO THE CORRUPT ONCE THE REVLUTION SETS IN: ALTAF HUSSAIN

KARACHI: 30TH JANUARY 2011:

Founder and Leader of Muttahida Quami Movement Mr Altaf Hussain has said that a revolution has become the fate of the country and young people particularly the students should come forward to free the country from the menace of corruption. He was addressing a mammoth assembly of Sindhis, Baluchis, Punjabis, Kashmiries, Gilgitis, Saraikis and other ethnic and cultural entities at Jinnah Ground Azizabad.

“Whenever I spoke about a revolution I was reviled and questions were raised about revolution but Allah Almighty in his supreme wisdom wanted to make things plane. Revolution is unfolding in Tunis and Egypt which everyone can see with his own eyes. This assembly of the people in which people from all ethnic and cultural entities are participating is a revolution in its own right.”

“It is said that MQM uses guns to bring out people. I ask the journalists and intellectuals from Punjab, Baluchistan, Khyber Pakhtoonkhwah, Kashmir and other parts of the country who have come here to witness this grand public meeting to see for themselves if the multitude of people present here could be brought out through force or guns. MQM does not have guns that kill but it has the guns and mortars of love, peace and brotherhood that has woven the people into a beautiful bouquet.”

“It was during the Pakistan Movement that people flocked to the call of Quaid-e-Azam irrespective of their ethnic and cultural differences and it now that they have thronged in big numbers by setting aside the barriers of language, culture, religious beliefs. Is this not a revolution? I challenge that no other political party in the history of the country has managed to gather together so many people belonging to different parts of the society.”

“We do not want to fight with anyone. We want love and peace just as Islam enjoins love and peace. Islam is our foundation and democracy is the building. Good points of Socialism are its brick and mortar and controlled privatization and controlled capitalism its colour.”

“Democracy means common people but has there been a government of common people in the past 63 years or has it been the rich elite, feudal lords and capitalist forces ruling the country?”

“Do you want to perpetuate the democracy of the 2 percent ruling elite that plundered the national wealth or do you want a democracy with clean and honest people from the rest of the 98 percent of the country?”

“MQM is strictly following the message of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) which he gave in his Last Sermon. In MQM no one is great or small.  All are equal. There is no discrimination. Urdu speaking people have no superiority over Punjabis and Punjabis have no superiority over Sindhis and Sindhis have no superiority over Baluchis. Likewise no one is superior because of his caste, colour and on the basis of the language that he speaks.

“It is my message to the Urdu speaking people that if your houses are attacked you should not retaliate.”

“I warn to the feudal lords and rich people who have amassed huge fortunes through loot and plunder to stop and take heed else the people would drag them in streets and your neck will be in their hands. Injustice and cruelty will be paid back in the same coin.”

“They ask about revolution. Let them know that those who throw innocent people in the blast furnaces would be dragged in the streets.  Their fiefdom will be pull apart and their palaces and would be converted into schools, hospitals and other buildings of public welfare.”

“Punishment for street crimes, kidnapping for ransom, robberies, murder and other heinous crimes would be enhanced by changing the law. No respite will be shown.”

“Four days back three people in Lahore were killed by a US citizen and now the US government is demanding his immediate release. No politician talked about it only Altaf Hussain said that if the US government demanded to release him then what about releasing Dr Aafia?” He asked America and West to make friendship with Pakistan on equal terms. We don’t want charity but equality and honor.

“I say to the government to stop using firepower in Baluchistan. The missing persons should be recovered and those arrested should be released. The government should accept their right on the natural resources of their province.”

“I say to the government of Sindh that the incidents of kidnapping for ransom and extortion must be brought to an end otherwise the revolution would take its own course. We want a peaceful revolution through the power of ballot but we would sacrifice our lives if the scoundrels did not stop.”

“Those who are demanding province have every right to do so. This will strengthen the country and not weaken it. Call a referendum and let the people decide as to what they want.”

“The economy of the country would not be salvaged by printing currency. This would result in uncontrolled inflation. If the economy is to be put on the right track then the government must cut back on lavish expenses. Number of ministries must be reduced and extravagant expenses of the bureaucracy should be stopped.”

In the end Mr Altaf Hussain thanked the people for making the program a huge success. He also thanked the journalists and intellectuals who had come from different parts of the country to attend the program and see for them selves as to what MQM actually stands for.

He also thanked the security personnel including rangers and police for making security arrangements for this event.
