ALTAF HUSSAIN DEMANDS IMMEDIATE REINSTATEMNET OF ALL KESC EMPLOYEES
LONDON: 20TH JANUARY
2011
Founder and Leader of Muttahida Quami Movement Mr Altaf Hussain has demanded
immediate reinstatement of all the retrenched employees of Karachi Electric
Supply Company and has condemned the summary termination of services of more
than four thousand employees of Karachi Electric Supply Company and termed the
step as arbitrary, heartless and inhuman. Mr Altaf Hussain has said that the
administration must restore all the employees to their position failing which
MQM will start a peaceful movement for their restoration. Mr Altaf Hussain also
appealed to the retrenched employees to bear with patience and refrain from
causing damage to the public, government or KESC property.
The Co-ordination Committee of MQM has also flayed KESC for terminating the services of more than four thousand of its employees with a single stroke of pen and has termed it as the economic murder of the employees. They said that poverty was wide spread in the country because of unemployment and sharp increase in price and the action taken by KESC was callous and deprived of any sense. They said that the forceful retrenchment of such a large number of employees was a flagrant violation of the labour laws as well.
The Co-ordination Committee asked the KESC to improve the working of the company by increasing generation capacity and free the country from unending misery of load shedding. They assured the employees of their maximum co-operation and said that MQM would raise this issue at every level. They demanded of President Asif Zardari, Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani, Governor Sindh Dr Ishrat-ul-Ebad and Chief Minister Sindh to take serious notice of the termination of KESC employees and ensure that all employees are reinstated.
