MURDERERS OF WALI BABAR SHOULD BE BROUGHT TO BOOK IRRESPECTIVE
OF POLITICAL AFFILIATIONS-ALTAF HUSSAIN

Founder and Leader of Muttahida Quami Movement has demanded arrest of the murderers of Wali Khan Babar even if they belonged to MQM. Expressing his concern over the fact that the murders of Wali Khan Babar were still at large, he said that the murder of Wali Khan Babar was an aggression on freedom of express ion. He stressed upon President Asif Zardari, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gillani, Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik, Governor Sindh Ishrat-ul-Ebad and Chief Minister Sindh Qaim Ali Shah to hold an impartial inquiry of the murder of Wali Khan Babar. He said that the inquiry should be assigned to an impartial and upright officer who should rise who should carry out investigations without regard to religious, political and ethnic affiliations. He demanded adequate security arrangements for journalists, reporters and camera men.

 

ALTAF HUSSAIN CONDEMNS ASSASSINATION OF BADSHAH KHAN

Founder and Leader of Muttahida Quami Movement Mr Altaf Hussain has strongly condemned the assassination of MQM official and former Naib Nazim of SITE Town Syed Badshah Khan in an armed attack by the terrorists. He was talking to the Co-ordination Committee Pakistan at Nine Zero after the gruesome murder of Badshah Khan. Mr Hussain said that the murderers of Mr Badshah Khan were the enemies of peace and were trying to foment violence in order to keep people away from MQM. Mr Altaf Hussain expressed his deep sympathy for the family of Badshah Khan. He demanded that President Asif Zardari, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gillani, Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik and Chief Minister Sindh to take notice the murder of Badshah Khan.

Syed Badshah Khan, office bearer of Muttahida Organizing Committee Karachi and former Naib Nazim of SITE Town has been killed in a terrorist attack while he was leaving him in the morning. Armed terrorists lay in ambush and open fired upon him when he was getting into his car. Badshah Khan received four bullets on his chest and died on the spot. He was 55 years old and has left behind a widow, three sons and three daughters.

MQM Founder and Leader Mr Altaf Hussain has condemned the assassination of Badshah Khan and has termed it as an attempt for foment more violence in the city. He said expressed his heartfelt condolences for the family of Badshah Khan and prayed Almighty Allah to shower His blessings upon him.

Earlier members of Co-ordination Committee Dr Nusrat, Gulfaraz Khattak, Yousuf Shahwani and Syed Shakir Ali and a large number of MQM workers reached Abbasi Shaheed Hospital soon after getting the news of the incident. They sympathised with family members and asked the workers to bear with patience.

Addressing a Press Conference at Khursheed Begum Memorial Hall in the evening member Co-ordination Committee Gulfaraz Khan Khattak said that the murder of Badshah Khan was an attempt to terrify Pakhtoons in the MQM but they will not be deterred.

“It is a well thought-out plan to ruin peace in Karachi. Those targeting MQM workers in terrorist attacks are the enemy of Pakistan and the people.”

“It is the responsibility of the people in the corridors of power to bring to justice the killers of MQM as they have been identified. It is the only way to put an end to terrorism.” Gulfraz Khattak said in response to a question.

“For the past two days Karachi has been drenched in a bloodbath. Armed terrorists have been on a shooting spree killing Urdu speaking people at Kati Pahari, Banaras, and Rabia City and in Orangi Town. Now they have started targeting non-Urdu speaking workers as well.”

“Everyone knows that MQM is the only party that has stood against religious extremism and creating awareness in the masses in order to promote an environment of brotherhood and mutual respect. No one has raised voice against religious extremism like Mr Altaf Hussain.”

“The bloodbath in the city is a vicious attempt to create hindrances in the path of MQM in order to keep it from spreading its message throughout Pakistan. The murder of Badshah Khan is a sequel of the conspiracy to ignite linguistic and ethnic riots in the city.”

“We demand of President Asif Zardari, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gillani, Governor Sindh Dr Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan, Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik and Chief Minister Sindh to arrest the killers of Badshah Khan and all other workers of MQM who fell victim to the unending wave of target killing in the city.”
