ALTAF HUSSAIN ASKS PM TO TAKE NOTICE OF ENERGY CRISIS IN KARACHI

LONDON: 10^TH JANUARY 2011

Founder and Leader of Muttahida Quami Movement Mr Altaf Hussain has appealed to Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gillani to take notice of the shortage of natural gas supply to Karachi and start the provision of gas to Karachi Electric Supply Company immediately. Mr Altaf Hussain said that like other cities in Pakistan Karachi was also facing shortage of natural gas. The Sui Southern Gas Company has suspended gas supply to KESC which has badly affected the production activities in the city. He said that as a result of unavailability of gas KESC has started load-shedding in residential and industrial areas from 12 to 16 hours a day.

Mr Altaf Hussain said that Karachi is the backbone of the economy of the country and suspension of production activities in the city directly affects the economy of the country. He asked the Federal Government to take immediate notice of the crises in gas supply and power demand. He called for taking steps on emergency basis to improve the situation.

AUSTRALIAN HC VISITS NINE ZERO 

KARACHI: 10TH JANUARY 2010: 

High Commissioner of Australia Mr. Tim George visited MQM Head Office on Monday the 10th January. He was accompanied by First Political Secretary Mr Jon Bonnar. The guests were received by members of Co-ordination Committee Mrs. Nasrin Jalil and Kunwar Khalid Yunus. Provincial Ministers Syed Sardar Ahmed and Faisal Sabzwari were also present on the occasion. The High Commissioner was informed about the views of MQM on Reformed General Sales Tax (RGST) and elections to Local Government Bodies. He was informed about the recent killings of the workers and office-bearers of MQM and the law and order situation in Pakistan. Murder of Governor Punjab Salman Taseer also came under discussion during the meeting. The meeting lasted for more than an hour. The High Commissioner was presented the Pictorial Biography of Mr. Altaf Hussain after the meeting ended.

ALTAF HUSSAIN GRIEVED AT THE DEATH OF MR RUKHUNDDIN

Founder and Leader of Muttahida Quami Movement Mr.Altaf Hussain has offered his heartfelt condolences at the death of the father of former MQM Senator Zahid Akhtar and noted builder Mr. Rukunuddin. Mr Altaf Hussain sympathized with the bereaved family and prayed for the eternal bliss of the departed soul.  Co-ordination Committee of MQM has also condoled the death of Mr. Rukunuddin. Members of Co-ordination Committee Jawed Kazmi, Saif Yar Khan and members of provincial assembly attended the funeral and the burial ceremony.
