Altaf Hussain had a telephonic conversation with President Pervez Musharraf

Muttahida Quami Movement’s Quid Mr. Altaf Hussain had a telephonic conversation with President Pervez Musharraf on Monday evening. He informed the President that plunder, death and destruction took place after the martyrdom of Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, in Karachi and the whole of Sindh causing poor and middle class people to loose their cars, houses and shops, these were plundered and then set on fire. Many families out of these are at a loss because all their life’s earning and all their lot has been destroyed by the miscreants. Now there is nothing left with the poor and middle class families in order for them to be able to pull on decently and provide for their children and households and to once again become bread winner and stand on their own feet again.

Mr. Altaf Hussain said that Muttahida Quami Movement and its welfare Organization Khidmat-e-Khalq Foundation are doing their utmost to help these affected families.

MQM has also opened Complain Cell to compile the data of the losses incurred by the affected families. Mr. Altaf Hussain has appealed to Mr. Pervez Musharraf to expedite the efforts and processes of help and the removal of the losses of these affected families. He further stated that in Karachi and the whole of Sindh factories and Warehouses were plundered and torched. Those thousands working in these factories, the workers and laborers have become jobless. Billions of Rupees losses have been incurred by the factory owners and their factories have been completely destroyed.

It is the need of the day that the government should provide all possible help to these factories owners. They should be given the tax relief; special concessions in the import of Machinery and through other necessary resolutions provide help so that they are able to restart their own businesses and factories as soon as possible.

President Musharraf informed Mr. Altaf Hussain that government has setup a Commission to this effect, this commission is collecting data of the damages. The government is ready to help the affected people and families in whatever way are needed and in this regard all efforts will be expedited.
