MQM REJECTS INCREASE IN PETROLEUM PRICES

The Central Co-ordination Committee of Muttahida Quami Movement has rejected the increase in prices of petroleum products i.e. Diesel Petrol and Kerosene oil by government and has termed the decision as a gross mistake. The Central Co-ordination Committee in Pakistan and London went into an emergency session soon after the announcement by the government that took stock of the disquietude in the public in the wake of the increase in prices. It was noted in the meeting that the increase in petroleum products shall have direct effect on prices of commodities of daily use and hence the poor people will be worst affected. The committee demanded of the government to take back the increment immediately and instead of overburdening the common people agricultural income of big fat landowners should be brought under the tax net and subsidies on agricultural products should be reduced immediately. They said that if the government did not take back its decision within three days then the future course of action will be decided in the meeting of the Co-ordination Committee.

 

PEOPLE MUST OVERCOME FEAR TO BREAK FREE FROM EXPLOITATIVE FORCES: DR FAROOQ SATTAR

Deputy Convener of the Co-ordination Committee of Muttahida Quami Movement Dr Farooq Sattar has said that the revolution of the poor and middle class is imminent in the country. He was addressing a big gathering of MQM workers in Multan. He said that Pakistan went in to the grips of big landowners and privileged class who always worked for their vested interests. He said that that the way the people belonging to the poor and middle class segment of the society were treated ever since independence has brought the country on the edge of the precipice and now a revolution of the people cannot be stopped. Dr Farooq Sattar said that unless the people overcame their fear and rose against the exploitative forces that had impoverished them there would be no change. He said that MQM has become the third largest political force in the country and the public meeting at Minar-e-Pakistan in Lahore on 10th April 2011 would determine the direction of the revolution.

 

  

MQM CONCERNED AT FIRING OVER PEACEFUL PUBLIC PROTESTS

The Co-ordination Committee of Muttahida Quami Movement has expressed its dismay over the use of force by and gunfire to stop peaceful demonstration of public against closure of citywide petrol pumps. The Co-ordination Committee said that the petrol pump owners closed all the pumps in expectation of sharp increase in POL prices that led to peaceful demonstration from the public. The Co-ordination Committee said that prices of POL products have already reached to a point where they have become unbearable for the common people, the closure of the pumps in expectation of windfall profits added insult to the injury forcing people to come out on the streets. The Co-ordination Committee stressed upon the government to refrain from use of force against peaceful public demonstration as the disproportionate use of force may lead to worsening of the situation. The Co-ordination Committee demanded of President Asif Zardari, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gillani take serious notice of the situation and resolves the problem by effective negotiations with the petrol pumps dealers association.

 

MQM DEMANDS IMMEDIATE RESTORATION OF GAS TO FAISALABAD

The Co-ordination Committee of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) has expressed grave concerns over the continued shortage of gas in Faisalabad. They asked the government to take notice of the protests by public and industrialists and restore normal supply of gas as the shortage of natural gas has badly affected business as well as normal life. They demanded the government to take steps for restoration of immediate gas supply to Faisalabad.

 

ALTAF HUSSAIN CONDOLES SENATOR BABAR GHORI

LONDON: 28TH FEBRUARY 2011 

Founder and Leader of Muttahida Quami Movement Mr Altaf Hussain has condoled Senator Babar Khan Ghori over the death of his maternal grandfather Khursheed Ahmed La Rosh walay. Mr Altaf Hussain expressed his grief and sorrow and prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul.
