VILIFICATION CAMPAIGN AGAINST MQM IN PUNJAB LOSING GROUND: ALTAF HUSSAIN

LAHORE: 13TH FEBRUARY 2011:

Founder and Leader of Muttahida Quami Movement Mr Altaf Hussain has said that MQM is the only political party that is making practical struggle to save Pakistan and it is the only ray of hope. “Those who opposed the idea of Pakistan tooth and nail now consider themselves as the most patriotic in the country. They are now conspiring against the remaining part of the country.” He was talking to a gathering of workers and office-bearers of MQM Lahore Zone. Deputy Convener of Co-ordination Committee Dr Farooq Sattar and members Wasim Aftab, Raza Haroon, Iftakhar Randhawa and Saif Yar Khan were also present on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion Mr Altaf Hussain said that the so-called patriotic elements in the Punjab who have amassed inestimable wealth remained staunch supporters of the British to the last and were the foremost opponent of the Pakistan Movement. “During the course of Pakistan Movement they continued to support the Unionist Party to the last when they saw that Pakistan had become inevitable they joined Muslim League and pushed aside those who had actually waged struggle for Pakistan. Muslim of the minority provinces sacrificed their home and hearth for Pakistan but these elements started a vilification campaign against them in order to keep the people of Punjab away from them.”

“I am thankful to Allah that the negative propaganda unleashed against MQM is now losing ground and people of Punjab particularly the young are joining MQM in large numbers. An opinion is being established that only a true and honest leadership from the poor and middle class can save the country and MQM is the only political party in the country comprising educated and able leadership from the 98 per cent poor and middle class. It is because of this that MQM is being seen as the only ray of hope in the country.”

“A day will soon come when the oppressed and downtrodden people will unite under the flag of MQM and will invoke the memory of Pakistan Movement and will wage a struggle to save Pakistan”

He directed MQM workers and office-bearers to continue to work indefatigably for the message of the party and not get fearful and overawed by the strong arm tactics of the opposing forces. He asked them to bear with patience and restraint and spread the message of MQM to the people. He appealed to the people of Punjab, students, labourers, peasants and intellectuals to participate in the public meeting to be held under MQM in Lahore on 10th April.
