EXTREME PUBLIC ANGER CAN MOTIVE A REVOLUTION PAKISTAN: ALTAF HUSSAIN

KARACHI: 3RD FEBRUARY 2011:

Founder and Leader of Muttahida Quami Movement Mr Altaf Hussain has said that corruption was the foremost Disease that has crippled the economy. He said that there was extreme anger in the public and a day would definitely come when this anger would bring the people on the streets. He said that we will have to establish a corruption free society in Pakistan based on the principles of social justice and establish relationship with USA and European countries on equal footing. He said that we will have to UN TIE the country from foreign domination as it has become the heartbeat of every Pakistani. He said this in an interview with a private TV channel.

He said, “I appeal to the President, Prime Minister, and Chiefs of Armed forces to give a chance to the estranged leaders of Baluchistan who have raised the standard of freedom. I am myself ready to implore the nationalist leaders of Baluchistan to give a chance to the government and try to resolve issues through negotiations.”

Referring to the uprisings that have swept Egypt, Tunis and some other Arab countries he said that nobody could have imagined that such a large number of people would come out on streets in some Arab countries. All this has not happened on the spur of the moment. People were groaning under the heavy burden of poverty, unemployment, and impoverishment whereas the ruling elite continued in their merry-making. “A time came when their anger gave way to expression and they came out on streets protesting against the rulers for a revolution”.

Drawing an analogy between Pakistan and the Arab countries that have been swept by public protests he said that 98 per cent of the population in Pakistan was faced with untold miseries and problems. “On the one hand there are those who are forced to sell their children for want and hunger and on the other hand there are those who are getting richer with each passing day.”

Referring to allegations and criticism against MQM he said that the only reason why MQM was made a target of all the fault-findings in the country was that MQM belonged to the poor and middle class people. He said that MQM originated in the backdrop of problems of the poor and middle class people and it did not nurture in the lap of military generals. He said that it was only with the advent of MQM that common people reached in the corridors of power otherwise assemblies & Senate were off-limits for them.

He said that the people in all Sindh, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtoonkhwah, Baluchistan and Gilgit-Baltistan the youth were looking at MQM with a glimmer of hope. He said that MQM was expanding rapidly in other parts of the country there comes a day when its message would warm the hearts of appeal and they would join MQM in multitudes.

When asked about Raymond Davis he said that the issue was sub judice and the court would decide this issue in accordance with the law of the land. He said that the people of Pakistan did not want Raymond Davis to be returned to USA without the due process of law.
