DESECRATION OF THE HOLY QURAN, PROPHET HOOD AND HADITH BY MUTTAHIDA MAJLIS-E-AMAL (MMA) IS BLASPHEMOUS AND ABHORRENT ACT---ALTAF HUSSAIN

PEOPLE SHALL UPRISE IN TOTAL PROTEST AGAINST BLASPHEMOUS ACT OF THE MMA ON THURSDAY

London-22 August 2006

Mr Altaf Hussain, founder and leader of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) lamenting the Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) appealed to the people to rise in protest by participating in the “Protest Rally” at Tibet Centre, M.A. Jinnah Road, Karachi on Thursday, 24 August 2006 under the auspice of the MQM against the blasphemous and abhorrent act of desecration of the verses of the Holy Quran, prophet hood, Hadiths  (pronouncements of the Holy Prophet) and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan by the leaders of the so-called religious parties in the National Assembly. In a statement, issued from London, he reiterated that the way, Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal tore up the Government Bill seeking amendments for the protection of women rights containing Quranic verses, name of Allah, sanctity of prophet hood and Islamic Republic of Pakistan and satanically trampling those tore up pieces under their feet was not only revolting but also blasphemous. He further added that these horrendous acts of the so-called leaders of MMA only proved that these elements are the enemies of Islam and Pakistan while they always traded the religion to serve their vested interests.

Mr Altaf Hussain, addressing the people of the country said that no one as a human being containing vibes and slightest respect for the religion and the country could keep quiet on these dastardly acts of desecration of the Holy Quran, prophet hood and the country, Pakistan. He appealed to the people to fully participate in the protest rally on Thursday, 24 August 2006 organised by the MQM to manifest that they truly respect, adore and venerate the religion and Pakistan while those who desecrated the religion and Pakistan are a microscopic minority.

Mr Altaf Hussain again appealed to the people of the country to demonstrate their devotion and veneration for the religion and the country by fully participating in the protest rally on Thursday in Karachi, irrespective of their political affiliations. The demonstrators should show the desecrators that they are the true believers of Islam while the desecrators have proved that they are the so-called believers and hypocrites and should feel ashamed for their act to desecrate the religion and the country.
