PEOPLE OF SINDH WILL VOTE FOR THE SUCCESS OF HAQ PARAST IN THE LOCAL BODIES
ELECTIONS AND DEFEAT THE RELIGIOUS EXTREMISTS – ALTAF HUSSAIN

Karachi – 5th August 2005  MQM Founder & Leader Mr Altaf Hussain has stated that Sindh is the land of Sufis and the people of Sindh adore Sufism; and they do not support Jamat-e-Islami and other religious extremists. They have unanimously decided that they will vote for the success of Haq Parast who preach righteousness and defeat the religious extremists. He was addressing public gatherings in the cities of Sindh including Tando Allahyar, Noshero Feroze, Ghotki and Tando Adam (Sanghar). He said that we talk a lot about Islam, the Holy Quran and the lifestyle of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) but do not truly reflect upon them. At the time when the Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) began spreading his righteous message, Mecca was engulfed in the darkness of oppression and coercion. The Sardars and Jagirdars of Mecca in collusion with the oppressive forces tried their best to suppress his message. The Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) and his Companions were oppressed and tempted with offers but they rejected all such offers and temptations, faced the oppression and remained determined to continue their righteous struggle. Their struggle teaches us that whenever someone will start a righteous struggle against the oppressive forces then they will be victimised, targeted and tempted to accept offers to deter them from the righteous path. However, those who have full faith in the righteous ideology, continue to face the oppression and remain on the righteous path. They continue to offer sacrifices in their righteous struggle, remain optimistic then the Allah Almighty ensures that they are successful. The Allah Almighty has stated in the Holy Quran, “surely Allah does not change the condition of a people until they change their own condition – 13:11”.

Mr Hussain said that for the past 57 years the condition of the poor and middle class citizens of Pakistan has remained unchanged, their issues have not been resolved because they chose not to struggle for their rights and worked for the mullahs and jaagirdars. However, MQM is the only political party of Pakistan, which has emerged from the poor and middle class.  It has sent the representatives of poor and middle class citizens to be elected as the members of parliaments not only from Karachi and Hyderabad but also the Sindhi-speaking workers of the MQM. Today the poor and middle class people of Sindh are uniting under the banner of MQM and by the Grace of Almighty Allah the MQM’s message is spreading. He appealed to Sindhi people from all walks of life including the intellectuals, youth, students, teachers, doctors and writers to come forward as the MQM is their party.  He said that the spirit of Sain Shah LatifRH will be pleased to see that those who live and die in the province of Sindh are getting united regardless of their language or area. The love and affection is increasing and everyone is participating in the righteous struggle.

Mr Hussain warned that the terrorist elements have been activated to disturb the peaceful atmosphere of the local bodies elections in Sindh. These terrorists have yesterday brutally murdered an MQM worker Mohammad Nasir. The Jamat-e-Islami demonstrating their animosity with Sindh by demanding from Punjab that army should be called in Sindh. On the one hand Jamat-e-Islami proclaims to be against the uniform and on the other hand it is demanding to call army in Sindh. Why the Jamaat-e-Islami is not demanding to hold local bodies elections under army in Punjab and NWFP?

Mr Hussain said that the people of Sindh love Sufis and they don’t support Jamaat-e-Islami and religious extremists and will defeat these elements in the forthcoming local bodies elections by electing Haq Parast candidates.

Mr Hussain appealed to the public and MQM workers not to get agitated on the terrorism of Jamaat-e-Islami and remain peaceful. He said that by remaining peaceful we will be able to elect Haq Parast candidates who will then resolve the issues of the public. He instructed the workers to study organisational literature and organise study circles. He also advised the workers to refrain from bad habits, respect all including elders, teachers and parents.
