GOVERNMENT, MILITARY AND PCNS MUST TAKE THE NATION INTO
CONFIDENCE ON NATO SUPPLIES AND DRONE STRIKES: ALTAF HUSSAIN

THE NATION MUST BE TAKEN INTO CONFIDENCE INSTEAD OF BEATING ABOUT THE BUSH

LONDON: 3RD APRIL 2012

Founder and Leader of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) Mr Altaf Hussain has demanded of the government, the military leadership, the establishment and the Parliamentary Committee on National Security (PCNS) to inform the nation about economic condition of the country and other difficulties before the joint session of the parliament called on 5th April to deliberate upon the recommendations of the PNSC.

The government, the military leadership, the establishment and members of the PCNS should take the nation into confidence regarding the restoration of the NATO supplies, drone strikes, and other pressing issues relating to the national security keeping in view the demands and concerns of NATO and the developed countries instead of beating about the bush.

Mr Hussain said that the task of putting the real facts before the nation might be equal to swallowing a bitter pill but taking bitter pills to cure a disease was also necessary. He said that the bitterness could be reduced by adding sugar but the effects of bitterness of the medicine, and its effects of the body, could not be eliminated altogether.

Mr Hussain said that it was his sincere advice to the government, the military leadership, the establishment and the PCNS as a humble student of history that a durable solution of the problems could not be obtained by escaping realities.

Mr Hussain said that hiding one’s face in the sand like an ostrich would not eliminate dangers. He said that the living nations took pragmatic decisions in the light of facts, and they faced the situation boldly instead of trying to avoid the danger.
