ALTAF HUSSAIN ASKS GOVERNMENT FOR STEPS TO RELEASE PAKISTANIS FROM SOMALI PIRATES

The Founder and Leader of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) has expressed his concern over the capture of Captain Wasi Hassan and four other Pakistanis by Somali pirates over six months ago. He said that the pirates are demanding huge amount as ransom money for releasing the 22 hostages that were captured by them nearly six months ago. The pirates have threatened with dire consequences if their demand is not met. He appealed to President Asif Zardari and Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gillani to help the families of Pakistani hostages and take urgent steps for their release.

MQM CO-ORDINATION COMMITTEE CONDEMNS ATTACK ON TV REPORTER

The Co-ordination Committee of the Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) has strongly condemned the attack on Naved Kamal, the reporter of a private TV channel, and termed it an attempt to curb the freedom of the press. They said that the attack has created a sense of insecurity in the journalist community. They demanded of the government to arrest the perpetrators of the attack and prayed for the early recovery and well-being of Naved Kamal.

MQM PARLIAMENTARINS CONDEMN LONG POWER OUTAGES

The Parliamentarians belonging to the Muttahida Quami Movement have condemned long and unannounced power outages in the city that has hit the normal life of people from every segments of the society hard. They said that the long hours of load-shedding have made the life of the people miserable and the business activities are the worst affected. They said that the students are also facing problems as they have to prepare for their annual examination without electricity. They deplored that young students are forced to take examination in the hot weather in the absence of electricity. They demanded of President Asif Zardari, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gillani and Chief Minister Sindh to take serious notice of the long spells of load-shedding and take immediate steps for providing relief to the common people.
