JOINT SESSION OF THE MQM PARLIAMENTARIANS TO DISCUSS THE ECONOMIC SITUATION OF THE COUNTRY

 

 

KARACHI: 18TH APRIL 2011:
 

A joint session of the Parliamentarians belonging to the Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) was held at Khursheed Begum Memorial Secretariat Azizabad in which the overall economic position of the country came under discussion. Members of the Co-ordination Committee of the MQM were also present on the occasion. Proposals for the in coming budget were also discussed in the meeting.

Senator Ahmed Ali, Senator Abdul Haseeb and Provincial Minister Syed Sardar Ahmed briefed the parliamentarians about the economic position of the country. They briefed told that the economy of the country was on the brink of a disaster and if the people at the helm of affairs did not take corrective measure on emergency basis it would have disastrous consequences over the country.

They said that budgets have to be drafted by keeping in view the incomes and the expenditures but unfortunately this basic consideration has always been cast aside in the past and the burden of inflation is passed on the common people which they said is gross injustice.

They said that it is highly imperative for salvaging the economy of the country that the tax net is increased and the agricultural income is made taxable. They also called for reduction in water, power and gas charges for the industrial development. They said that solid steps should be taken for elimination of corruption from the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and other government departments.

They said that the policy of self-reliance should be adopted by exploiting the natural resources available in the country. They said that non-developmental expenditure should be reduced and savings and investments should be promoted. They also demanded ruthless accountability in order to recover the huge loans worth billions of rupees.

They said that the country cannot be put on the path of progress and prosperity unless reforms are made in education, health and economy of the country. They said that reforms are the only way to curb inflation and unemployment and to free the country from the shackles of foreign debts… Ends

 

CO-ORDINATION COMMITTEE CONDEMNS FIRING AT THE HOUSE OF CIC JOINT IN-CHARGE

 

KARACHI: 18TH APRIL 2011:
 

The Co-ordination Committee of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) has strongly criticized the firing by unknown terrorists at the house of joint in-charge of the Central Information Committee (CIC) of the MQM Saif Abbas. Armed assailants fired at the house of Saif Abbas on the night intervening between Sunday and Monday in which the car of Saif Abbas was damaged. The Co-ordination Committee demanded of the government to take serious notice of the incident and to arrest the perpetrators. ……….
