MQM ANNOUNCE '' MOURNING DAY'' AGAINST KILLING OF FORMER MPA LIAQUAT QURESHI

Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) announced to observe peaceful ‘mourning day’ tomorrow (Sunday) against killing of its former MPA Liaquat Qureshi and other more than 100 party workers and office bearers during last four months.

This was announced by MQM deputy convener Dr Farooq Sattar while addressing a press conference on Saturday at party’s headquarter Nine Zero. Other members of Central Coordination Committee were also present. 

Liaquat Qureshi was shot dead in Karachi last night when he was returning his home.

Farooq Sattar appealed to the MQM office-bearers, workers and sympathizers to hoist black flags and wear black armlets and offer fateha and recitation of the Holy Quran for the peace of the soul of Liaquat Qureshi and other martyrs of the party. He said that more than 100 party activists and supporters have been killed during last four months. He said that the killing of Liaquat Qureshi was aimed to damage the party. He said blood of these martyrs would bring revolution one day.

 

 

ALTAF HUSSAIN ENDORSES CO-ORDINATION COMMITTEE’S APPEAL FOR A DAY OF MOURNING

The Founder and Leader of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) Mr Altaf Hussain has endorsed the decision of the Co-ordination Committee to observe a day of mourning throughout the country tomorrow on Sunday the 1st of May on the brutal murder of former member of Sindh Assembly and leader of the MQM Liaquat Ali Qureshi. He appealed to the MQM office-bearers, workers and sympathizers to hoist black flags and wear black armlets and offer fateha and recitation of the Holy Quran for the peace of the soul of Liaquat Qureshi and other martyrs of the party.

Mr Altaf Hussain appealed to the business community, traders, shopkeepers and transporters to express solidarity with the MQM and take part in the day of mourning. He lamented that while the murders of the MQM leaders and workers continue without stopping, the government refuses to take solid steps for arresting the killers.

Mr Altaf Hussain appealed to President Asif Zardari, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gillani, Governor Sindh Dr Ishrat-ul-Ebad, Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik and Chief Minister Sindh to notice serious notice of the unending killings of the MQM leaders and workers. He said that the killers of Liaquat Qureshi and other martyrs of the MQM should be brought to justice.
