GAZAIN MARRI, SON OF NAWAB KHAIR BUKSH MARRI SHOULD BE DEALT WITH IN ACCORDANCE WITH LAW- ALTAF HUSSAIN

GAZAIN MARRI BE PRESENTED BEFORE THE COURT – DR IMRAN FAROOQ

London-2 April 2006 Mr Altaf Hussain, founder and leader of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) has strongly demanded of the President General Parvez Musharraf and the Prime Minister Mr Shaukat Aziz to deal with Gazain Marri, son of prominent Baloch political leader Nawab Khair Buksh Marri according to law, who has been arrested in Dubai. He further emphasised that no fabricated cases should be registered against him and if he is wanted by the government in any case then respecting all the provisions of the Constitution and Law, he should be dealt with in accordance with the law and not be subjected to torture. He should immediately be produced before the court of law and provided the right to defend himself.  

Furthermore, Dr Imran Farooq, Convenor of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) expressing his concerns over the arrest of Mr Gazain Marri said that thousands of the MQM workers and supporters were arbitrarily arrested and extra-judicially executed that included 66 years old Mr Nasir Hussain and 28 years old Mr Arif Hussain, brother and nephew respectively of Mr Altaf Hussain who were not even connected to politics and were purely victimized due to their relationship with Mr Altaf Hussain. They were brutally tortured for 3 days after their arrest in State custody and extra-judicially executed. Dr Imran Farooq demanded of the President General Parvez Musharraf and the Prime Mr Shaukat Aziz that Gazain Marri son of Nawab Khair Buksh Marri should be produced in the Court of Law.
